Don Mattingly.
In 13 seasons, Mattingly hit .307 with 222 homers, 1,099 RBI and holds
the major league records for the most home runs in eight consecutive games(10)
and most grand slams in a seadon (6) (Lou Gehrig holds the career record
with 23). A nine-time Gold Glove winner, he won the 1984 American League
batting title with a .343 average, and was named the 1985 AL MVP after
hitting .324 with 35 home runs and 145 RBI. Donnie Baseball's number
23 was retired at Yankee Stadium on August 31, 1997 and he was also honored
with a plaque in the stadium's monument park joining other Yankee greats.
