I was just working on a very long report for these pages, which will list the contaminants.
According to this treatise, Tetrachloroethylene "is used primarily as a solvent in the dry cleaning of fabrics."
But also:
"To a lesser extent it is used as a degreasing solvent in metal industries and as a chemical intermediate in the sythesis of other compounds.
... Tetrachloroethylene is classified as a probable human cacinogen (USEPA Group B2) by NJDEP.
I do have those pages which tell which chemicals were present in hazardous quantities at the Ciba-Geigy site.
The 1,2 trichlor "something" might be trichlorobenzene. "This organic chemical is used as a dye carrier and as a precursor in herbicide manufacture.
This chemical has been shown to cause damage to several organs, including the adrenal glands."
That's the only 1,2 trichlor"something" I could find, although there are some 1,1,1 tichlor"somethings" and trichlor "somethings" without any number at all.
