April 5: Cancer rate high long ago.

June 5: Moderate Republicans and Democrats want to require public water supplies to send their customers annual water testing reports. Bill would provide $400,000 to update the state's cancer registry and fund epidemiology in Toms River.

June 4: Panel OKs funds for Cancer study. Legislature that would update state's registry and provide contingency fund to pay for research into Toms River Cancer Cluster.

June 3: Military studying rate of cancer in Toms River.

June 2: In April the State Department of Health said more children born in Ocean County suffered birth defects than in other parts of the state.

June 2: Scientists warn that it may be impossible to prove connection between polluted sites and cancer at postal site.

May 31(?): United Water reports water main break, and reactivates the two wells they had voluntarily shut down the month before.

May 30: Cancer investigation will get data on contaminated site. Jersey Natural Gas Co. agrees to share information on the site near the Bus Terminal.

May 25: Post office employees suffer abnormally high cancer rate.

May 24: Cancer inquiry to cover Post Office near the Bus Terminal. As many as thirty-two workers may have been stricken over past 15 years. Coal gassification has gone on nearby from 1880-1952.

May 17: Computer to begin crunching cancer data. NJ. agencies will use sophisticated computer system to investigate possible cancer cluster.
